New National Highways Required for Bangalore

This blog post is about some of the roads connecting Bangalore, which I feel, should be developed as national highways by the Central Government/NHAI. The competent authorities in the government may or may not be thinking on the same lines. 1. Bangalore - Chintamani - Chelur - Kadiri - Nandyal - Atmakur Bangalore - Atmakur - Srisailam NH The highway should commence at Hoskote and continue towards Chintamani, which currently is SH 82. Hoskote, Pillagumpe, Nandagudi, and H-Cross are poised for industrial and residential development as they are a part of the Bangalore district. Kaiwara temples, Kaiwara National Park, the temples of Chintamani (Kailasagiri, Murugamalla, etc), would be along the way. From Chintamani, the highway would deviate towards Chelur (Bagepalli taluk), a border town. Chakavelu would be the last town within Karnataka. Today's editions of the newspapers say that the Government of Karnataka plans to divert a stream in the Western Ghats 'Ettinahole', towards the hinterland citing it is as a solution to the drinking water crisis faced by the districts of Bangalore Rural, Tumkur, Kolar, Chikballapur and Chitradurga. The project is being considered with utmost importance as it is also expected to meet the long term needs of Bangalore region as a whole, given that the city would not be able to draw any more water from the river Cauvery in a short while from now.
